People, we have a problem

Today, I read on cnn.com that gally is in danger of losing their accrediation. The report cited lack of diversity, low academic standards and low graduation rates as the main culprits. Now, this should not surprise anyone who was there at anytime. The students there were intent on partying rather than focusing on their education thus lowering the graduation rates. We see many students who enter the university unprepared for that level of coursework and yet at the same time we saw record numbers of students taking remedial courses then they get frustrated and leave. The same with the party goers. They come spend vr's money, party, get bored then leave.

If we are going to improve we must:

1. Strengthen addmissions standards.
2. Strengthen the academic curriculum.
3. Immediately withdraw students who skip classes and remove them from the dorm.
4. Enforce all university policies to the letter.
5. Start collecting what is owed, too many students have stiffed the university.
6. Aggresively recruit the best and brightest of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, for they are the future....

Till next time.....

Common Sense

Right now, Congress is debating how to change NCLB, especially with special needs students and new immigrants. Finally some common sense is being applied. Many educators know that special needs students do not learn at the same pace as their counter parts and needs accomodations to help them understand the test. Now congress is considering allowing these accomodations to help the students be able to take the tests and change how these children are factored in the school scores.

Some suggestions:

1. Specify how the accomodation is used, mandate training for all persons providing the accomodations.

2. Use the gains made by the special needs students as your basis of the scores.

3. Test what the child is able to do and only what he or she is able to do, not the entire test.

enough is enough

Ok, this is getting rediculous, how many more people are going on national tv claiming that they are the father of the baby? This is sickening to see, people trying to cash in on someones death.

DNA doesn't lie, so a simple dna test will solve the problem.

Anna Nicole Smith

Ok, yesterdat at 2 pm, the world learned the tragic death of Anna Nicole Smith who was thrust into the spot light when she married and banged some 80 year old dude till he died.

Now, it is really necessary for every news outlet to run the story every five minutes and thus fueling the conspiracy theorists to every theory imaginable even the most outrageous ones for the next 6 months. There will be an autospy then we'll know the facts, till then lets not indugle in a wild game of speculation and allow this poor soul to rest in peace.

Anna Nicole Smith, may you rest in peace for all eternity.

Super Bowl Sunday

I decided to type this as opposed to watching Prince's lame half time show.

So far the game has been a good one. And for the first time in super bowl history it is raining.

So enjoy the rest of the game an if you are hosting a party, please be a good host. Don't let anyone drive home if they've been imbibing alcohol, give them a ride home or call them a cab. Lets make the Law enforcement officers job a little easier.
